What's wrong with american idol????

ok so it seems to me that these people who win American idol don't really become anything too big like seriously. the only people who won and became great were kelly clarkson and carrie underwood besides that the other contestants became more popular then the winner like look at this from Mtv a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1611933/20090521/clarkson_kelly.jhtml" rel="nofollow"http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1611933…/a no one. Is it because most americans get attacted emotional to the people and not to their singing or what???
